Azura's BJD Prompts #9: Faceups

Do you prefer to keep the company one, do your own or pay someone else to do them? If you do your own whats one tip you'd like to share for others who may want to do their own as well? If you pay someone else to do yours, who do you commission and why are they at the top of your list?

  1. I would like to do my own face ups, but I need to practice a lot more, and get a lot more supplies before I can do anything that even resembles a good one. So right now I think I'll just send my dolls away to someone. So far I've only really worked with one faceup artist and she was simply amazing. She communicated well and did seraphina's face exactly the way I wanted it.

  2. Well it depends. I buy my dolls with the company makeup because they are pullips, and even if I can now buy blank heads, I want the outfits. I really enjoy them though, I wouldn't choose a doll if I couldnt stand her stock makeup. However I do prefer custom ones. I don't feel brave enough to wipe my girls faces though, and this is why I got myself a blank head to practice on. I also need a lil bit more of supplies before doing anything, because, living in Canada, I can NOT buy MSC. Its impossible here to import these products because they are seen as dangerous. I am saving for a airbrush so I can spray Liquitex as a sealant... But for now I will not touch to any of my girls makeup. And, as much as I have a lot of admiration for faceup artists, I wouldn't feel comfortable sending them my girls because I would be too scared of the result not being what I had in mind.
